Additional contraindications:
  • G6PD deficiency — Methylene Blue can cause severe haemolytic anaemia in individuals with this enzyme deficiency.
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
  • Severe renal impairment.
  • Individuals under 18 years of age.
Other notes:
  • May temporarily cause blue or blue-green discolouration of urine, saliva, sweat or the whites of the eyes. This is harmless and resolves once use is discontinued.
